An abdominoplasty (or ‘tummy tuck’) is an operation to improve the appearance of your abdomen. It can involve removing excess loose skin, fat and stretch marks and tightening the abdominal muscles.
Abdominoplasty procedures are designed to remove excess skin from the abdomen which can be problematic following pregnancy, cesarian section or weight loss. There are a variety of different scar patterns depending on the amount of excess skin that needs removed and the procedure can be combined with liposuction to address fat excess at the same time.
The aim is to remove excess loose skin on the tummy that cannot be removed through exercise – for example, excess skin caused by pregnancy or losing a lot of weight.
