The Academy of Plastic Surgery was set up to help patients make direct contact with surgeons. We function like a partnership and chambers to promote and support our member surgeons and anaesthetists.
Unlike cosmetic surgery providers we were not set up to make profits for our shareholders, that way we cut out the middle man and keep prices for patients as low as possible. In our effort to keep prices for you as low as possible you will also find that you aren’t going to see us at the top of every internet search you do because we don’t pay to be there.
The Academy is delighted to bring Mr Richard Clark to serve our patients with his sought-after expertise and patient focused outcomes.
Richard specialises in cosmetic surgery, breast surgery and skin cancer surgery. Which he delivers both to NHS Forth Valley, BMI Kings Park Stirling, Glasgow Day Surgery Centre, and now to The Academy of Plastic Surgery.
For the previous 18 years (since 2003) his dedication has seen him complete a fellowship within Head and Neck Surgery. Gaining skills to perform surgery on the face, eyelids, ears, and nose. A further fellowship studying all aspects of skin cancer. This includes Mohs’ surgery which can also be added to Richards repertoire of expert surgical interventions.
Most recently, Richard’s skills have seen him carrying out breast reshaping and reconstruction. As a result, Mr Clark can be found on the GMC Specialist Register as a Plastic Surgeon.
Richard attended Glasgow University and graduated in 1998. Following the necessary basic surgical training he then began his career in plastic surgery. Most of this being undertaken at Canniesburn NHS Hospital in Glasgow.
Canniesburn Hospital, prior to it’s move to Glasgow Royal, was the hub of the West of Scotland Regional service and all major plastic surgery was centralised there. A training place like no other.
By 2004, Richard began a research degree in skin cancer. This led to the MD Research Degree Award. Further supported by the publication of several scientific papers.
In 2007. Richard was appointed to the Pan-Scotland Plastic Surgery training scheme. As an active member he spent time in Dundee, Belgium, Detroit, and Norwich developing specialist skills in breast surgery, cosmetic surgery, and skin cancer surgery.
His continual rise to success found him awarded the highly sought-after Training Interface group fellowships in 2013.
In 2014, Richard undertook the position of Consultant Plastic Surgeon within NHS Forth Valley. He is responsible for breast reconstruction surgery. A service for which he was instrumental in developing and setting up. His NHS consultant role also see him carrying out skin cancer surgeries. He is one of very few plastic surgeons trained in oncoplastic breast surgery. Integral to all breast cancer surgeries. Greatly enhancing the range of options that can be offered to women with breast cancer and facilitates better outcomes from it.
Furthermore, he is one of very few surgeons whose skills extend to Mohs’ surgery. A microscopically controlled surgery used to treat common types of skin cancer.
Jim specialises in all aspects of facial surgery and cosmetic facial plastic surgery including face lifts, neck lifts, blepharoplasty, otoplasty and rhinoplasty.
